How has EConsulting™ given back? cont’d
humans in a state of homelessness. At the garden, we harvested crops to be used in their soup kitchen, removed garden waste (weeds and dead plants) and composted it, helped with the Fall garden cleanup, and donated ecological seeds.
In November 2009, we helped to build a hoop house. The hoop house was built to grow starter plants for local community gardens and to produce additional fresh produce that the Catholic Action and other non–profits will use to help feed those in need.
In 2009, we began volunteering at a children’s garden for the Chrysalis House, a local non–profit that helps women that have been substance abusers and their children. The garden began a couple of years ago but was mainly weeds when it was renewed in 2009. Raised beds were built and painted with the help of the children and added to the garden area. The children also helped to plant trees; fill in the raised beds with manure, dirt, and compost; sow seeds; harvest and eat fresh produce from the garden; etc.
